The second figure has been made just by rearranging parts of the first figure. But wait. We've got an extra block here ! From where does this extra area come?

How can this be possible?

looks can be deceptive... wat eyes see need not be true... and the squares may not be squares and straight lines can very well be curved... :P
i hope u understand wat i say.. else i wud paste the whole solution...
Of course you must post the solution, how else would I know whether you really know the solution or not."Looks can be deceptive" is valid for every problem like ths.
And if you've solved the pirate problem as well, post that answer too.
i know the solution but i won't tell unless and untill you promise me a treat.....what say dude??
Whoever you are, why should I treat you for telling something I already know ?
slope of both lines isnt equal...
cant explain further... u know its difficult to explain by writing..
hey i can give 10 solutions to this problem and i m sure u know only 2-3 of them. So obviously m gonna tell u smthin that u don't know and thats why m asking for a treat..........
Apparently there is only one solution. The hypotenuse in the first triangle is concave inwards whereas that of the second one is convex (bulging outward).
The grid is uniform and curvature in any other line does not affect it much.
